RECENT COLLAGES

In the spring of 2003 my husband and I "discovered" and began exploring the Rockaway Peninsula.
Since our move to Rockaway Beach I often walk along the shore finding the beautiful objects that inspire my collages.
On the way out I pick up debris as "restitution". Enjoying the beach and learning more about Jamaica Bay by going on walks
sponsored by the Gateway National Recreation Area, Jamaica Bay Unit  and the American Littoral Society .
I am tuning into this magnificent natural environment that is part of New York City.

Beach Treasures
While walking along New York's many beaches you never know what treasures you might find.....

Seeds
Contemplating the Power of Seeds
A few years ago I began to look at leaves, tree bark, shells and other natural objects with a new sense of wonder
and appreciation.  On morning walks along the East River, in Central Park and on Upstate New York hikes
I started to pick up bits and pieces that inspired me to create collages. While preparing fruits and vegetables at home
I collected the seeds. Birthday roses, eggshells and coffee grinds were next...you get the picture!
Happily working away at my kitchen table - and at a Community room graciously made available to artists
by the Roosevelt Island Housing Management - my wish to become a fulltime working artist was being granted...
Presently I work at home in my first studio - and at a very spacious kitchen counter- and the ideas just keep coming...
